Volkswagen Group’s MiMo sportscar platform is go!

Word has emerged that the Volkswagen Group’s mittelmotor (MiMo) sports car platform has been approved. That means an Audi R5, like the rendering above, could be a reality by 2014. Volkswagen would make use of the MiMo architecture by turning their Concept BlueSport into a production reality. Porsche, though, is likely to get first dibs [...]

BMW M5 prototype sounds a bit better now

// Posted in BMW

Back in September we brought you video of the latest BMW M5 test mule undergoing testing at the Nürburgring. Aside from the fact it’s always good to see a new M5 on the way the sound from the car in last month’s video was, well, quite disappointing, really. Never mind, though, as this new clip [...]

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster spied

A couple of pics of a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster prototype have been doing the rounds today. Of course, the Roadster will lose the gullwing-style doors of the tin top, but it will feature the same stonking 6.3 litre V8 engine. Using a weight and space saving fabric roof the SLS AMG Roadster is expected [...]

Remembering the deeds of Sir Jack Brabham

Aligning US motoring interests to Formula One is something that doesn’t happen all that often. So it was with welcome surprise that our morning rounds saw an article from Winding Road reminding us of the great deeds accomplished by our own Jack Brabham. Three F1 drivers titles (1959, 1960 and 1966) would usually be enough [...]

The best corners in Formula One

Over at the Formula1.com website there is an article discussing the eight best corners in F1. Some of the corners are no brainers; Japan’s 130R, Belgium’s Eau Rouge and Silverstone’s Becketts complex are clear stand-outs. But how many of you would have put Brazil’s Mergulho, Turkey’s Turn 8 or Canada’s Wall of Champions on the [...]

Spectacular Lamborghini Gallardo crash

Imagine you had decided your standard Lamborghini Gallardo wasn’t powerful enough. The only logical conclusion, obviously, would be to quadruple its power. Well, that would be all well and good, but a power figure nudging at 2000bhp at the wheels could be considered overkill. That is unless you want to take your car to a [...]
