Great news for Ferrari buyers on a budget with word coming through from the importer they will be offering a seven year service deal on all new sales.

The maintenance schedule is known as Ferrari Genuine Maintenance—hmm, they didn’t really think that FGM acronym through properly did they. Anyway, it includes servicing at 20,000km intervals or an annual service if sir’s Ferrari doesn’t get out much. There’s no limit on kilometres travelled and the program is completely transferable if you sell the car.

Ferrari launches seven year inclusive maintenance programme

All Ferrari supercars sold and delivered in Australia and New Zealand from Monday 24 October 2011 will be covered by a new seven year inclusive maintenance programme that covers all scheduled maintenance at no extra cost to the owner during the coverage period.

The programme covers the scheduled maintenance at standard service intervals (20,000 km, or once a year, with no restriction on total kilometres) along with the original spare parts, engine oil and brake fluid required. The programme is fully transferable to new owners.

“The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance programme is the latest facet in a range of customer services aimed assisting new and existing Ferrari owners with the ownership of their Ferrari,” explains Kevin Wall, General Manager for Ferrari in Australia and New Zealand. “These programmes make it easier to join the Ferrari family, provide support and protection for each owner and give the peace of mind that allows Ferrari owners to fully enjoy the unique experience that comes with driving and owning a Ferrari.”

The Ferrari Maintenance Programme – Genuine Maintenance is Ferrari’s exclusive service that ensures that its cars are maintained to the highest level for maximum performance, safety and care for the environment. The programme is unique – this is the first time a car manufacturer offers such cover worldwide and is evidence of the attention paid by Ferrari to its clients. The Genuine Maintenance programme covers the individual vehicle, and thus extends to any eventual subsequent owner. The programme covers the workmanship for the programmed maintenance as prescribed by the warranty booklet along with the relative original spare parts, engine oil and brake fluid. It is included on Ferrari FF, 458 Italia, 458 Spider and California models.

Ferrari Approved – Offered by all Ferrari dealers, this is a pre-owned programmed specifically designed to meet the needs and requirements of Ferraris, with a series of extremely rigorous technical checks and controls drawn up by Ferrari. This complete and detailed Ferrari-approved inspection is carried out by technicians that have trained at the factory and who specialize in evaluating Ferraris of all types. Each Ferrari Approved car is meticulously prepared and presented for sale to Ferrari’s own extremely high exterior and interior standards. The exterior paintwork and interior trim and upholstery are carefully checked. If any repairs are required, only the finest quality materials will be used. A Ferrari Approved pre-owned car is covered by a 12 month warranty.

The Ferrari Power Warranty – This provides a range of extended warranty options that make it possible to cover a pre-owned Ferrari for up to its first nine years. The Ferrari Power Warranty may be tailored to specific needs, either for the whole vehicle or for specific elements of the vehicle, such as drivetrain only.

Ferrari Pre-Owned Search – Top assist prospective owners locate the specific Ferrari that meets their ownership requirements, Ferrari maintains a centralized database of all the pre-owned Ferraris available at its official dealers and this may be inspected at Ferrari.com.au and Ferrari.co.nz. It contains the details of each car, pricing and a range of pictures.

Ferrari Classiche – Ferraris are not just the benchmark for supercar performance, style and ability, they are also the benchmark for classic car values, holding a list of records for value and auction prices. The Certificate of Authenticity service is available in Australia and New Zealand with final approval given for each certification by Piero Ferrari. Additionally, owners may also choose to have their Ferraris fully restored by Ferrari to original blueprints for their model at the Ferrari Classiche department at Ferrari’s home in Maranello.

Damn… Wish they’d offered this before I bought my Golf with it’s measly 3 year warranty..

Hyundai at the bottom, Ferrari at the top… hopefully more of those in between will be inclined to offer better warranties & servicing.

Personally, I don’t understand the business logic behind this move by Ferrari. No one who is in the market to buy a Ferrari would pass one up purely based on lack of warranty. On the flip side, it somewhat cheapens their brand by throwing it on “sale”. If it does sell more Ferraris, then I guess all Ferrari drivers in Australia really are rich toss pots who wouldn’t understand the passion about owning a Ferrari… Actually, thinking about it more, I guess they are targeting those rich toss pots…
