BMW 3 Series GT spied uncovered

BMW 3 Series GT spied

Spied during a video shoot, here’s your first undisguised look at the BMW 3 Series GT. We know most of you won’t like what you see, but we dig it. Sure it’s a bit daft looking around the hip area, beneath the Hofmeister kink—itself a bit awkward—but, overall, we think it works.

In a world of pointless SUVs the BMW GT range gives buyers what they actually want from a “4WD” without pretending to be one. It’s just a shame most people seem too scared to recognise that.

The model above is fitted with the M Sport package and as such features a more aggressive body kit. The surprisingly functional looking vent behind the front wheel also indicates the model line.

In the metallic brown, sorry, Havana/Mojave metallic F34 GT you see after the break you’ll notice a softer look as well as getting a better view of the car’s side profile. Go on, admit it, it looks pretty good doesn’t it.

Follow the source link below for more pics, just make sure nobody notices the admiring grin on your face.

I’m sorry Liam, but my face is not grinning. This is the car that is supposed to make the gorgeous 3 Series Touring redundant? All SUV buyers actually want a wagon but are too afraid to admit it because their mothers drove them when they were kids. Where are the BMW design trademarks? Hofmeister kink? Reduced to a sad generic angle. Front-engined rear-driven proportions? The bells of Notre Dame might as well be ringing. And I’m sorry but even if this was a KIA – admit it, it looks like one – I would still see no point in that side vent, obnoxious quarter window and C-pillar treatment, pointless decklid and generously deep rear quarter panel while not forgetting the misaligned shoulder. This is what happens when non-car people hire non-car designers and planners to come up with a car based on ‘research’. And I love BMWs, that’s the sad part. They used to be the more honest machines out there, both design-wise and engineering wise. I still love a 3 Series, just not her cousin from the village.

I like it. One of the neighbours here traded his 7 series for a 5GT M-sport, so I have warmed to the looks. The 3 GT is sleeker so it looks even better. BUT, what is the point of a GT when you compare it to a wagon? It’s less useful hatch means that it is only slightly more useful than a sedan boot, but nowhere near the wagon. Sorry, I’ll take the 3 touring every time.
