Life in the slow lane?

Queenstown, New Zealand

A short word to let you know that I plan to scale back AUSmotive for a while. That may mean you’ll see no updates for a week, or it might mean you see regular articles being added as per normal. I’m not really sure.

After almost five years of running AUSmotive out of love, and certainly not money, while also working full time in a totally unrelated field, I need a longer term break.

For now, though, thank you to all of you who have been regularly checking in to the site over the years and, hopefully, I’ll be back bigger and better at some stage in the future.

Thanks for putting out what I consider to be the best auto news site in Aus.

No annoying ads and a clean, clear design make all the difference.

Thanks mate

I agree with Jerry. Ausmotive is at the top of my automotive bookmarks and has been since the beginning. It’s a great site and serves its niche very well. You should be justifiably proud. Thanks for all your work so far.

The Mac blog crowd uses a number of techniques to make blogging more viable, such as:
– site membership ($10-20 per year)
– weekly sponsorship
– guest contributors
– sponsored podcasts, etc

Personally I would welcome any of these on Ausmotive and I’m sure your other readers would as well.

But if you just want a break then that’s completely understandable. We’ll be here.

Thanks again.

Thanks for all the hard work Liam. Completely understand a need for a rest and a break. That said though I can’t wait till my go-to Automotive Blog comes back bigger than ever.

Thanks for the hard work, although I’ve never commented, I’ve appreciated reading your blog. Have a well earned rest and hopefully you can find a way to turn a buck with the site, I’d be happy to pay a subscription if that is introduced.

Thanks for your great work Lima. You deserve a well earned break. Hope you can find a viable method by which you can monetize Ausmotive, it’d be great if it became a full time gig worthy of your time and passion for boring carbon copy Audi design (*attempted humour*). Gonna miss the 5 updates a day days…

Noooo! Cheers mate its been a great read and hopefully you come back bigger and better!

Thanks for your time and effort. AM is my site to go as far as auto news. Great reads and great photos (especially F1 in pictures).

Cheers!

So Liam, who’s going to test drive and write stuff on my new cars now?

See you round mate ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for your effort and work – definitely the best Aussie motor website around!

Can’t wait for the next installment.

Cheers,

Dave

Liam,

Thanks for all the effort putting the site together, I love it, and it is the first car site I check everyday! However, I understand your need to step back a little.

Hopefully the site can continue even if in a more spasmodic manner

Robbo

The guys are right. You should be congratulated on making such a great site in your spare time. I hope the break gives you some time to relax and unwind.

Liam,

Enjoy the break. Your work here will be missed. I say you flick the day job and find a way to do this full time!

Thanks for everything you have done till now!

I’m following the site from switzerland and in my opinion it is one of the best – worldwide.

Cheers

Ditto on the kudos. This is a real enthusiast site, thanks for all your work, enjoy the break.

Uff…was so happy to find this side, living in austria. Just can confirm, that this is one of the best sides i’ve ever found. Opening the browser and starting with ausmotive was joy bringing…always!

I echo the thoughts above – thanks for making such an enjoyable read during the past 5 years.

Hey Liam,

It’s always the first site I check if i’m in the mood for my car fix for the day!

I hate going to TMR, Motoring and a like as they are just filled with annoying BS crap!

This site is always posted the information and added a little humour on the way ๐Ÿ˜€

If you need someone to start posting on your behalf I am sure there is at least a dozen guys here that would be more then happy to help whilst you take a well earned break!

Liam, understand but very sorry to hear it – aus motive was always a regular source for me. Can’t we twist your arm?!!

Wow, great effort, never knew you also worked full time.

This was honestly the best Auto news site in AUS, hope you get back to it, you did a really great job.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks for the ride so far Liam.
Its been a great journey so far, and I am sure you’ll be back with an even better version sometime soon.
We’ll be here waiting and opening the site every morning in anticipation that you “have returned”.

Liam

Thanks for publishing this site as long as you have. It perfectly hits the mark with its content, I’m not sure where I’m going to get my auto fix from now! You should be proud of what you have created here. Will definetly miss the frequent updates but will still check in.

Cheers

The only site I know that puts up manufacturers’ press kits – loved those. The nature and tone of the blogs really makes it feel like a community here, Thanks for all the hard work Liam. Hope you come back refreshed and recharged.

Like others who have commented, this is the best automotive site! I come here to read about cars more than anywhere else on the Internet. Big fan, and will be very sad if it doesn’t continue!!

I absolutely agree with those above that call Ausmotive the best site for automotive news on the web. It is without doubt. I look forward to reading whatever pops up here regardless of the frequency. Thanks for putting in the time Liam, it is greatly appreciated.

Liam – found this site about six months ago through a mutual friend (Stu), but have read it weekly since. Thanks for your efforts, and I hope the break treats you well.

just saw this; fully understandable as i have had a mini-break from the internet as well.
sometimes it get’s a bit too much and you gotta switch it off – hard to do when you are an admin for a busy website constantly updating content,…..the pace is relentless.

good luck, liam, and enjoy your time-off.
thanks for the quality content.

I have nothing new to add to all the comments already posted. Liam, you are a gentleman and an absolute motoring fanatic, thank you for all your hard work.

PS you know that there are probably readers on here that are happy to help contribute to the posts on a semi-regular basis, if that would assist in lightening the work load? You just need to ask and maybe provide some direction, but I’m sure people on here are happy to put back into the site.

I’ve really enjoyed this site checking in at least once a day. You definitely deserve a break though Liam. I hope you decide to come back but if you don’t thanks for all of the great content.
Joel

Great website, dont allways agree with the comments ,opinions are what makes the car industry what it is.,Good luck for whatever you persue for the future.

Congratulations on a top site, always informative and nicely put together. It has been top of my automotive fix list for some time now, and will miss the regular updates.

Again I echo the comments of others here by saying that I am sure there are a bunch of people who could assist in posting on your behalf…just let us know if we can help.

This yank is going to miss the frequent updates. Where am I going to turn to for Formula 1 coverage in America? Will have to get by on piecemeal stories in between NASCAR updates. All the best. Yankee.

Good work Liam! I often wonder while reading this excellent site where you get the time to pull this all together. Enjoy the break

We should start a fund: “Save Ausmotive.com” ๐Ÿ˜€

Thoughts about selling merch? I know this would take up extra time and what not could get some revenue.

Thanks again for all the encouraging comments. They’re a great boost. At the very least I expect to cover F1 related items for the next little while. The Detroit Auto Show will provide a good test as well, but I can’t promise anything too much for now.

Hello Liam,

Back in time I ran over this site and since then this blog has been one of my favorite.
I think your F1 coverages were great, so I hope you really to get back one day “at full speed” ๐Ÿ™‚

Greetings from Bulgaria,
Dinko

I will be moving house this week which will interrupt my usual schedule. Also, once moved my internet connection is going to take 3-4 weeks to activate. On the positive side I will be moving much closer to my “real” work and so will endeavour to minimise down time as much as possible.
