For the first time we bring you pics of the MINI Countryman Coupé in testing. You’ll remember it’s based on the 2010 Paceman concept and is, as the name now suggests, a tw0-door version of the Countryman crossover.
It’s expected the Countryman Coupé will make an appearance at the Paris Motor Show in September. Despite our usual disdain for most things SUV, we do make a few rare exceptions, and we think this model might just make the list. Although, the regular four-door Countryman will certainly win out in the practicality stakes.
Of course, you can’t see too much with the crazy black and yellow camouflage, but make sure you concentrate on the rear lights on the image below. You’ll see they take an altogether new form for MINI, appearing to be wider than they are tall and also intrude through into the rear hatch.

Hmmmm, interesting
For over a decade, we’ve now had the new Mini: a new, bigger version of arguably THE small car of the 20th century. For the facelift some years ago, they had to make it a little bit bigger still, I think because of legislation saying how high the lights must be above the ground. Then they made the Countryman – an even bigger version of the new, bigger version of the small car. Then they made the Coupe, a smaller version of the new, bigger New Mini. And now … they’re planning to do a smaller version of the biggest version of the new, bigger reincarnation of the small car? What have they been smoking??
Whatever they’re smoking, it’s must be bloody strong. In the same way that Ken Done must look at his bank account and laugh at how stupid Australian’s must be, I’m sure MINI execs are doing the same…
