We know you all love the Alfa Romeo 4C, and why wouldn’t you. It has all the ingredients to make it special. Low weight, decent power sent to the rear wheels and, well, just look at it.

And did you know you can choose from four different alloy wheel styles, from 17″ through to 19″ in size? Or that you can spec the brake calipers in one of four colours? There’s four different seat/fabric options too. Indeed, you’d think everything was in fours until you see the six external paint colours on offer.

Alfa Romeo 4C named SBK safety car

Afla Romeo 4C SBK safety car

The Alfa Romeo 4C has been named as the official safety car of the FIM World Superbike Championship. The stylish 4C will make its SBK debut appearance at Silverstone this weekend.

“Alfa Romeo is a proud sponsor of the FIM World Superbike Championship having been associated with the series for seven years now,” enthused Damien Dally, Head of Brand at Alfa Romeo UK. “As we prepare to launch the Alfa 4C here in the UK, it’s fantastic to be able to showcase this car to the public for a second time as it takes to the prestigious Silverstone circuit.”

VIDEO: Alfa Romeo 4C hits the track

Alfa Romeo sent its lightweight 4C sportscar out for a spin around the Balocco proving ground and took some cameras along to catch all the action. The result is this promo video which doesn’t say much other than: Look at me!

A quick reminder, too, that the 4C will make its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in a couple of weeks.

Building the Alfa Romeo 4C

Here’s a great behind the scenes look at the ever so sexy Alfa Romeo 4C being built. Like the 8C Competizione before it the good folk at Maserati have been given the job of building the 4C.

They start with a carbon fibre tub and carefully bond it all together to finally form one of the most highly anticipated cars of 2013. Tipping the scales at just 895kg (dry weight) the 179kW on tap from the all-aluminium 1750cc turbocharged four cylinder is sure to make this sportscar a real treat.

In fact the engine and 6-speed dual clutch combo weigh in at only 135kg combined, some 24kg lighter than the Giulietta.

VIDEO: Alfa Romeo 4C Concept

The Alfa Romeo 4C Concept was one of the clear stars of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. So most readers will be pleased to see this short film released by Alfa showing the preparation of the 4C prior to the show.

To refresh your memory the 4C has the madness of a KTM X-Bow under the skin, enveloped by a series of stunning Behind the driver’s seat rests 150kW of turbocharged power, which sounds modest until you realise there’s just 850kg of weight to shift.

What’s not to like?
