Hey look, it’s the Lamborghini Aventador!

Lamborghini Aventador

Overnight Lamborghini released a further image of the carbon fibre chassis from its new V12-powered Murcielago replacement. However, the image creating all the waves is this leaked pic of the new LP 700-4, aka Aventador, which was published by Evo Magazine Croatia and sent in to WorldCarFans.

We’ll get a full, and official, look at the Aventador in a week or so at the Geneva Motor Show. After the break you can see the pics Lamborghini actually want you to see.

Lamborghini Aventador update

Lamborghini Aventador spied

It’s time for a bit of an update on the new Lambo Murciélago successor, otherwise known as the Aventador (at least, that’s what we think it will be called). As the image above shows, the KGP Photography/Autoblog combination brings us one of the best looks yet at what the Aventador will look like. In profile view, it is looking fantastic (click here for more pics).

Ahead of the car’s world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March, Lamborghini has been drip feeding information. So far we’ve had confirmation of the 700hp V12 engine that will power the Aventador. Last week Lamborghini also revealed details about the suspension their new hyper car will feature. It’s been heavily inspired by current day Formula One thinking, as well. In fact, Lamborghini are claiming their new pushrod spring and damper concept has never been used on a production car before.

Lamborghini’s official press release and pics of the suspension can be seen after the break.

Lamborghini LP700-4 becomes Aventador

Lamborghini Aventador rendering

First, it was the Jota. Then, it was the LP700-4. Now, it would seem, the Lamborghini Murcielago replacement will be called the Aventador. More guesswork? Possibly, but the recent discovery of an application with the US Trademark office does give the Aventador theory some credence.

It might be worth noting that a simple Spanish–English translation via Google yields the result that Aventador simply means “fan”. However, according to comments over at Jalopnik it should translate as “one who dares”.

We’re still expecting a 220kg weight loss program for the Aventador. And, we’re still expecting around 700bhp from a 6.5 litre V12. There’s a really small outside chance we could see this car at the LA Auto Show next week, but it is more likely that this beast will be unleashed at Geneva next March.
