Sabine Schmitz joins Save The Ring campaign

Sabine Schmitz

The future of the Nürburgring Nordschleife is under threat thanks to some less than helpful and reportedly dodgy private management. While Sabine Schmitz might be all smiles and happy Christmas wishes in the above picture, she has just published a new video message to help promote the Save The Ring campaign.

In her message Sabine says, “I have to tell you something on behalf of the Nordschleife. We have really big problems here and to save the Ring, especially the Nordschleife, you have to inform yourself…

“We need your help very, very urgently. There are things happening you can’t imagine.”

Check out Sabine’s message in full after the break and don’t forget to join the Save The Ring group on Facebook. The Info page has more on this developing saga.

Seriously, what can one do if the Ring is owned by a private business? Surely there’re not going to ask for handouts.

Its not owned, its leased as with the Airports in Aus. Problem is they appear to have fudged the numbers to get the lease and now its just not stacking up, 400 mil Euro in the hole is a hell of a lot for a few hotels and a ‘theme park’ setup, it will be interesting to see further fallout in the German Government whent he EU finish its investigation as with the German Prosecutors.

It’s all a bit ugly, really. If the private management goes fut, I guess the best we can hope for is a resumption of government-based control.
