All-new Mazda6 arrives in local showrooms

All-new Mazda6 now on sale in Australia

Mazda Australia has already achieved a new sales record this year. And we think the arrival of the stylish new Mazda6 to local showrooms will further send the brand’s sales tally into overdrive.

Buyers can choose from two engines, a 2.5 litre petrol engine providing 138kW/250Nm or a 2.2 litre diesel which produces 129kW/420Nm. The latter will feature in the return of the Celebrity Race at next year’s Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Impressive fuel consumption has never really been a huge strong point for the Mazda6, but that’s all about to change, thanks in part to the company’s innovative i-ELOOP technology. Coupled to a 6-speed auto, the only transmission offered, the petrol engine uses 6.6l/100km on the combined cycle, while the diesel is rated at 5.4l/100km.

Four trim levels are provided, all available in sedan or wagon configurations. The range starts with the petrol only Sport model. The remaining three models are all available with the diesel engine for a $3000 premium. The trims offered are Touring, GT and the range-topping Atenza, which features extra safety technology such as radar-guided cruise control and blind spot monitoring.

All-New Mazda6 hits Showroom Floors

The All-New Mazda6, Mazda’s premium sized family car, has hit showrooms ahead of schedule in time for Christmas.

The All-New Mazda6 was originally scheduled to land in Australia in the first quarter of 2013, but a decision was made to bring the date forward making it available to new car buyers on December 1.

A flagship model for a new generation of Mazda products, the Mazda6 incorporates the very best of Mazda’s craftsmanship and technical expertise across all domains, from dynamic performance and design, through to environmental performance and safety.

It is the second of Mazda’s new generation of products which incorporate both the full range of SKYACTIV technologies and the new ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design theme.

Featuring a range of new generation technology, including the ground breaking capacitor-based i-ELOOP brake energy generation system and i-ACTIVSENSE – a series of advanced safety technologies that assist the driver in recognising hazards, avoiding collisions and reducing the severity of accidents – the Mazda6 is more advanced than ever before.

Beautifully crafted, the All-New Mazda6 comes with a SKYACTIV-D 2.2 litre diesel engine and the new SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre petrol engine.

All-New Mazda6 comes in four six-speed automatic transmission grades, the Sport, Touring, GT and Atenza with prices starting at $33,460 (MLP).

Well .. I drove both the petrol and the diesel on Saturday morning at my local dealer and to say the diesel will definitely be the pick of the bunch .. I am currently in talks with two dealers for a GT Sedan .. It’s a great car.

@Liam … Aaannd ORDERED.. Decided to go with the GT Diesel in the hero colour “Soul Red” .. I think I got a pretty good deal through Essendon Mazda.

Good colour choice. It needs a darker colour to show off its curves and creases best.

I saw a white one at Slavens, and I usually like white cars, but it looked awful on the Mazda6.

Nice car, but a $14,000 price difference in the petrol model from Sport to Atenza without a difference in engine or power is a bit much.

Yeh .. plus the additional price over the out-going model too .. Various reports I’ve read over the past couple of months indicate that Mazda is trying to shift it’s demographic and push it into “entry level luxury”. Taking in the view of the interior for the all new model I can certainly see that they are trying to achive that .. Take for example the nicely stitched leather arm-rests in the new model over the plastic trim arm-rests used previously .. The seats are more comfortable too, they feel more supportive especially in the seat area and not quite as hard [this is in comparison to my 2004 Mazda6 Luxo Sport].
