evo reviews new Golf GTI

Volkswagen Golf VI GTI

Respected mag evo recently filed a review on the new Mk6 Golf GTI. Reviewer Henry Catchpole almost didn’t like it, “as I link one fourth-gear left-hander with another fourth-gear right-hander there just aren’t any fireworks making me go ‘ooh’ or ‘ahh’. Then we reach The Corner…”

For their take read the review in full, which also includes some neat stuff about Wolfsburg and the Autostadt as well.

Pretty good review, although I found the stuff on Wolfsburg more interesting than the now-familiar GTI rundown.

My main question would be regarding the new active diff and suspension, namely are they necessary? Considering the likely considerable cost of those options, wouldn’t they only be justified if you did a lot of 10/10ths driving?

I’d be interested in your thoughts on this once you actually get hold of one…

Good points Matt, I agree with all of them.

Will be interesting to see how aftermarket tuners cope with those new options you mentioned as well.
