Stop Damon Hill from crushing this car

Schumacher-Hill crash - 1994 Adelaide GP

Further proof there isn’t anything you can’t buy on eBay is given with the current listing of the Benetton-Ford that Michael Schumacher used at the 1994 Adelaide Grand Prix to “win” his first F1 World Championship.

Here is a sample of the text from the listing:

“For sale is the F1 race car, with which Michael Schumacher won his first Formula One Driver’s Championship at the Adelaide GP of Australia.

Most remembered are the scenes were Michael Schumacher had a collision with Damon hill and his Williams-Renault ending up both had to retire the race and Michael Schumacher could use his one point advantage to be the 1994 F1-Driver’s Champion.”

People keep telling me that Schumacher is the greatest living human being of all time. Well, out of all the racing driver humans, that is. I guess. So, historic racing cars, with real significance, like Schumi’s first F1 title winning machine should be protected.

The current bid is at an astonishing AU$4.2 million. Looks like Damon is dead set on getting this car and sending it to the crushers. Stop him at once!

hahaha Here goes Liam bashing schummy to get on my goat again.. I’ll put it simply for you; Hes the best racing driver to have ever lived and he ran into a few 2nd rate ones.. nobody cares.

Lima, without a doubt the man is THE BEST driver ever to be put in front of a steering wheel. Why even argue about that?!?

Well, I haven’t actually argued otherwise anywhere in the piece above. Having said that, I guess it depends on how you define best or greatest, I suppose.

His record and achievements are outstanding, of course, but just as there was the odd asterisk next to Senna’s name, there will always be questions over Schumacher’s “racecraft”.

Ultimately, though, Stubby is right, indescretions and questionable tactics aside, Schumi was clearly better than all his peers, and probably anyone else to have ever raced as well.

That doesn’t make it any less fun winding up his fans, though. 8)

For me, though, he’ll never replace Prost as my favourite driver of all time. Mind, this probably has as much to do with the era I began following F1. I certainly lost a lot of interest during the Schumacher/Ferrari reign.

With so many different race driving disciplines over 100+ years, to attempt to definitively label someone the best racer of all time is highly subjective at best – about as useful as trying to determine the best athlete of all time, interesting to discuss but ultimately just an Individual opinion.

I’m with Revhed. Whilst it’s fine for Schumacher to be talked as THE BEST F1 or circuit driver, it’s a fun argument. I’d much rather look to rally drivers to find THE BEST driver. Tarmac is fun and all, but snow, ice, dirt, mud and the twisty nature of rally courses is sooo much more exciting to watch. Kankkunen, Vatanen, Mäkinen, Loeb, Burns would get my vote as THE BEST driver before Schumacher.

Schumacher the best motorsport driver ever???

The “winningest” maybe..but the best motor sport driver?..I very much doubt that, there is nothing in Michael’s being that could be remotely considered as sporting.

To be considered the best sportsman in your field you have to display the qualities of a good sport…this is something Michael has never been guilty of.
