Car magazine brings word of the 2013 McLaren MP4-P12, including this rendering showing how they reckon it will look. The MP4-12C was just a warm up; it’s the P12 that is the true sequel to the awesome F1.
Featuring a strictly two seat layout, an even greater use of carbon fibre in its body and a KERS-equipped 3.8 litre twin turbo V8 from the 12C with the wick turned up to around 800hp, you’re going to need a lot of money to get this car to flutter its eyelids for you. Something around the €750K mark is the tip. That’s a lazy AU$930K if you don’t mind.

They could take a lesson from Lamborghini about naming their cars instead of numbering them.
thats the whole point Dave. its the same way they give model designation to their F1 cars
I know, and I also know that’s what is wrong with it. McLaren is a constructor of racing cars, not a proper manufacturer of road cars.
They got it right with the F1, it was a simple name that evoked images of pure performance and it had a reasonably distinctive design. But the MP4-P12 sounds like it’s the internal designation for some nerdy aerodynamicist’s wet dream of what it would be like to be a designer rather than a real car designed for the real road. Consequently, it’s hideous!
P11 = MP4-12C
P12 is a working title. So it will change, but probably not so you like it!
