Audi RS3 v BMW M135i: Chris Harris decides

Chris Harris reviews the BMW M135i and Audi RS3

Chris Harris has chimed in to deliver his verdict on a classic Audi v BMW battle. The cars in question are the, now old-generation, RS3 and the new kid on the block, the M135i.

Let’s be honest here, you have probably already guessed at Harris’ verdict before even watching the clip, so…

We’re not sure if his thoughts on the RS3 are following the because Audi understeer, blah, blah crowd or if he’s convinced us the M135i is good enough to look beyond its deeply flawed looks.

Watch and enjoy.

Still think the 1 series get’s too much stick for it’s looks, I mean the lights could obviously be better, but the long bonnet with sharp central lines, high waistline and lines down the side are all pretty sweet. Get it in the wrong colour with the wrong wheels though and I agree it’s pretty bad, but done right in Estori blue with m sport wheels and it’s a cracker.
I actually think the looks also improve hugely with the standard lights fitted. It’s probably the only car I know that looks better without Zenons.
It’s competitors are all great cars, but the Golf GTI, while being a great all round car, looks tall, bulbous and has ghastly wheels yet gets little criticism about it’s looks and the new Merc A class looks like a Hyundai from some angles.

Why did BMW make such a great car look not so good? I say put the BMW drivetrain in a Scirocco and you have a marriage made in heaven!
Sorry if I have offended anyone who has ordered the BMW but don’t worry it is a great car and for that price you can’t go wrong and if I had one I would be very very happy!

Have to agree with Jay – I actually like the look and simplicity of the exterior, though only with an M kit and in white or estoril blue. I’m looking to move on from my R56 MCS end of next year and in to a 5 door hatch. There’s only the 125i and the new A250 which meet what my wife and my self want in a car. The beemer would be preference though… rwd, lovely dynamics, a dash that doesn’t look ‘tacked’ on. 🙂

Oh and in regards to the Scirocco… call me crazy but I absolutely hate that design lol. I feel it’s gonna date very quickly (already has IMO).

When BMW finally reveal the 2 series, we’ll find out if they heard the world-wide simultaneous vomiting noise when they revealed the new 1’er. No doubt, the M135i is a cracking car – hopefully the (M?)235i will be even better!

Yes, let’s hope so Tiaan.

One thing that has me puzzled though, it’s expected the M2 will use a 4 cylinder. Will BMW cut the M135i before the M2 is released, or will they really have a supposedly lesser model with a bigger engine?

Disappointing that a “professional” can go into a review with a predetermined winner in mind.
