Alfa Romeo 4C in town for SBK

Alfa Romeo 4C

The Alfa Romeo 4C doesn’t launch in Australia until later this year, but thanks to its role as the official Safety Car for the World Superbike championship you’ll be able to see one at Philip Island this weekend.

We wonder how many Alfisti will be making a special trip.

Alfa Romeo 4C to make first Australian appearance at Phillip Island

February 21 2014 – The Australian public will get its first glimpse of the Alfa Romeo 4C supercar at Phillip Island this weekend.

The 4C will perform as official safety car for the opening round of the 2014 World Superbike Championship as part of Alfa Romeo’s exclusive global partnership with the series.

4C has created waves in the automotive world since its inception, winning four prominent international awards and earning widespread critical acclaim.

The compact supercar delivers potent performance thanks to its combination of total dry weight of just 895kg – achieved through the extensive use of carbon fibre – and turbocharged, direct injection four-cylinder engine that produces 177kW and 350Nm of torque.

It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 258km/h.

Optimal weight distribution of 40 per cent over the front axle and 60 per cent over the rear contributes to balanced, racecar-like handling.

Alfa Romeo 4C will launch in Australia later this year.

Um, an ALFA as the safety car? That’s asking for a repeat of last weekend’s incident with the SS pace car at Daytona!

Hey Dave,

Alfa have been supplying the safety and course cars for WSBK for a few years, and no incidents…

So shove your tired old Italian stereotypes up your arse.

@ Dave…it isn’t an crappy aussie or jank s#itbox like the SS so no drama here. And it isn’t a Datsun GTR either that fall to pieces like at Bathurst.

Best vehicle (it’s not a car) to have as a “safety car” but it’s so quick the Alfa will lead by the first corner 😛
