Mercedes-Benz Australia informs us their limited run of 32 C63 AMG Coupé Black Series models have now sold out, with a queue quickly forming ready to pounce on any possible increase in allocation. By the time you add in taxes and on-road costs that’s around $8 million in pre-sold vehicles. Nice going for all concerned you’d have to say.

Richard Emery, General Manager Sales, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars is already looking forward to spending his Christmas bonus, “I can’t say I’m surprised but we’re certainly overwhelmed by the quick response. We’ll continue to work with AMG to secure more vehicles as not only have we sold out of our C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series allocation, but we now have a wait list.

“At this stage we don’t know how many more we can secure, but I know the number of additional vehicles won’t be high due to global demand”, concluded Emery.

Local pricing was only announced last month. It seems the only GFC in Australia is the one winning AFL grand finals.

This rather messed up looking Mercedes-Benz Estate is the forerunner to what could be the greatest station wagon ever made. Previously an honour held by the awesome Audi RS2, with able support from the RS4 Estate, we reckon a C63 AMG Estate Black Series might just trump them both.

Expect the same fearsome 380kW normally-aspirated 6.3 litre V8 from the Coupé, wrapped up in Estate clothing, the height of Euro chic. Oh yes, consider us very, very excited.

No firm word yet on a predicted production date other than the wide target of 2013. Even if it was due to launch tomorrow that wouldn’t be soon enough.

Ever wondered if car manufacturers have Top Gun style sections within their hallowed production halls? Mercedes has one, it’s called the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center. It’s where they send their best workers to go and restore old cars.

The centre in Irvine, Calfornia claims it “is the ideal place for owners, collectors, and enthusiasts to connect with this legendary brand. In addition to meticulously restoring and selling classic Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the Classic Center offers appraisals, provides Genuine Mercedes-Benz Classic Parts.”

Last month it emerged that Mercedes-Benz was keen to make a Black Series version of its SLS AMG ‘Gullwing’. And here’s the spy shot to prove it. The shot was taken close to the Benz development facility near the Nürburgring.

Expect the SLS Black to hang on to its naturally aspirated 6.2 litre V8. Of course, there’ll be a healthy power increase; standard power is 562hp and best estimates suggest you pick a number between 600–650hp when the SLS goes Black.

There’ll be meaningful cosmetic enhancements, too. By that we mean its widened body kit will be made of carbon fibre which will help reduce the car’s overall weight. Weight reduction will also be aided by racing style seats, common to other Black Series models.
