Williams F1 driver Pastor Maldonado recently made an ass of himself in Caracas. He was supposed to perform 12 laps of the Fuerte Tiunas military parade ground in front of an estimated crowd of 20,000. Instead, he made a rookie error and lost grip on the slippery road surface and crashed his FW33, ensuring the hero’s homecoming ended up becoming a major embarrassment.
Maldonado now joins the Nick Heidfeld hall of shame. But unlike Heidfeld, at least Maldonado has a grand prix winner’s trophy to fall back on.
