Volkswagen Golf Mk7 v Mk6

Volkswagen Golf Mk6 v Mk6

New versus old: In this series of seven images we compare the new Mk7 Golf against the previous Mk6 model. As is often the case with new releases, it’s not until you see them alongside the older model that the new changes begin to make sense. Certainly, we think that is the case here. The VII takes on a more dynamic and modern look against the VI.

All the pics have the Mk7 on the left and the Mk6 on the right. Make sure you click on the photos to load the 2000px super images which will allow you to better compare each model.

We’d love to hear what you think: does the Mk7 look better than the Mk6?

I miss the defined shoulder line from the Mk6 and Mk5, but overall I reckon the new car is better. Lower roofline is very much welcomed, the Mk5/6 felt cavernous inside! Keen to see the Mk7 in person.

Great coverage on the Golf Mk7 release AUSmotive – thank you!

Given the “hype” around the car, I would have expected ‘more’ visual changes to be made away from the Mk5/MK6. Am happy my Mk6 GTI is not outdated given the changes made…..

Still think the Mark 4 was the most dynamic change and since then it has been more evolution than anything.

Bottom line is they will still sell heaps

New headlights look a treat

I have a golf mk6 2.0 tdi gt(140) I love it,would have liked the gtd model but you cant have everything to be quite honest I just love driving vw cars you feel safe and it delivers power when needed.

common this car shouldnt be called golf 7.the only difference is the headlights and some editing in interior, the rest is exactly the same .this is called a facelift only

Actually Mike you have missed the point entirely with the MKVII. It is the all new car, with an entirely new platform and production process, revised engines as well as the new interior whereas the the MKVI was not much more than a facelift.

Thanks for this great visual comparison. Changes are subtle but there’s no doubt the new MK7 is the way to go. It’s now Jan. 2014 and I was seriously thinking of buying MK6 because of great discounts & incentives but I’ll definitely have to wait a year till MK7 comes to the States in 2015. Thank you again… this article have saved me from definitely getting a buyers remorse.

Mk6. So nice… To be fair compare with xenon edition
