Renault’s latest limited edition example of the Megane hot hatch, the RS275, is now on sale in Australia and it will set you back $52,990. For those playing at home, that’s just $3,090 more than an Audi S1.
In exchange for your money Renault will oblige you with a finely tuned Megane riding on a Cup chassis and now with 202kW on tap from its 2.0 litre turbocharged four pot. You’ll be able to impress your mates by bragging about your Akrapovic exhaust, that’s if they don’t hear you coming first. It’s a Renault, so you get lots of in your face decals too. It must be fast, right, just look at all the pretty stickers!
Only 100 of these RS275 Trophy models will be offered for sale in Australia. It’s okay, though, if you miss out just wait until next year when the next limited edition hot Megane is up for grabs.
New Megane R.S. 275 Trophy: Powerful and exclusive
September 23 2014
- The tradition of exclusive, sporty Renault Sport models continues with Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy, a new limited-edition version of Mégane R.S.
- A two-litre R.S. petrol engine tuned to deliver 275hp grafted into a Cup chassis.
- New ultra-sporty exhaust system developed in association with prestige partner AkrapoviÄ.
- Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy will be marketed in around 20 countries on five continents, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Germany and South Africa.
- The Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy will have a recommended retail price of $52,990.
Following its recent restyling, the Mégane range’s sportiest version now benefits from a technical upgrade and a bespoke look. Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy is the latest in a long line of limited-editions of the model which began with the Trophy 8:08 version in 2011 and continued with the Red Bull Racing RB7 (2012) and Red Bull Racing RB8 (2013) versions.
Technical upgrades for an R.S. thoroughbred with even sharper performance
Widely acclaimed both for its on-road performance and when driven round circuits, the Cup chassis with limited slip differential is a standard feature of Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy.
To allow customers to benefit more fully from the car’s dynamic qualities, Renault Sport’s engineers have worked extensively on Mégane R.S.’s powerplant to extract an extra 10 horsepower. The two-litre petrol engine consequently boasts 275hp, and peak power is reached at 5,500rpm. At the same time, maximum torque (360Nm) is available across a broad rev-band, from 3,000 to 5,000rpm.
Despite this additional power, fuel consumption and emissions have been carefully contained to stand at just 7.5 litres/100km and 174g of CO2/km respectively.
Renault Sport and AkrapoviÄ, the manufacturer of benchmark exhaust systems for motorcycles and performance cars, have marked their association with the standard fitment of a titanium exhaust system. In addition to benefiting from the lighter weight of titanium, Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy also features a specific, more raucous bark that is sure to appeal to those who appreciate sporty engine notes.
A limited-edition version that packs exclusive styling, inside and out
The new livery includes Trophy branding on the Platinum Grey F1-type front blade, while the personalised body sides feature Trophy decals. Platinum Grey has also been selected for the chequered flag graphic at the bottom of the doors.
Meanwhile, numbered door sill guards are further evidence of the limited-edition car’s exclusivity.
Like the new signature engine note, the carbon exhaust tail pipe, too, is the work of AkrapoviÄ.
Inside, Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy comes with leather and Alcantara Recaro bucket seats with visible red stitching. Red stitching has been carried over to the rear bench seat, while the head rests feature Renault Sport badging.
Other interior highlights include visible red stitching for the Alcantara steering wheel trim and hand brake bellow, as well as a Zamac gear lever knob.
Thanks to its more powerful engine, new, competition-derived technical features and assertive stance, Renault Sport’s Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy is a limited-edition car that is sure to appeal to fans of exclusive sporty cars.
The Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy will be available exclusively in either pearl white or liquid yellow. Only 100 examples will come to Australia and the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy will have a recommended retail price of just $52,990.
Commenting on the launch of the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy, Justin Hocevar, Managing Director Renault Australia, said: “Renault Sport has always been known for its exceptional limited editions and the new Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy is a fitting addition to the range.
“Created to commemorate our recent front-wheel-drive lap record of the notorious Nürburgring, the Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy brings all the expertise of Renault Sport to life in an exciting and engaging package. The new Alcantara Recaro bucket seats provide a luxurious and striking interior while the AkrapoviÄ exhaust system ensures the driver feels engaged with their driving experience.
“As soon as this vehicle was launched globally we saw customers wanting to place a deposit to secure one in Australia. We’ve been able to secure an incredibly attractive price for such a special vehicle and I’m confident these 100 vehicles will be very popular with Renault Sport fans across Australia,†said Hocevar.
The Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy comes with a 5 year/unlimited kilometre warranty and goes on sale nationally on Tuesday 30th September.

Wow, that Yellow just pops…but I wonder how doctored the photos are. The interior is really understated and sporty too, seats look magnificent.
sillbeer, the yellow is fantastic in person. The renaulsport cars are one of the only cars I’d own in yellow.
I admit I’m not a fan of yellow cars at all. But I have seen an RS Megane in yellow on the road a few times now and it it the best colour for this car out of all the colours you can get it in. The yellow is a very deep and rich yellow and makes the Magane looks amazing. On the other hand the most boring colours for the RS Megane that I have seen on the road are white and that dark grey and the limited edition RedBull cars in that dark navy blue. If I couldn’t get yellow I would go for a black one or a silver one.
Whilst I don’t think they will appreciate in value at all, the Megane RS will go down as one of the best FWD drivers car ever made.
